A separate choice for AI
This draft describes the separate permission intended before personal information is sent for AI processing. It is not yet effective and is not an active consent form. A general AI-permission switch and accessible withdrawal control are not yet implemented across the app and backend, including automatic analysis, queued work, retries, and Text Tardy.
Texting enrollment, START, sign-in, accepting the Terms, or using a non-AI feature does not grant separate AI permission.
What you are enabling
Tardy uses OpenAI through its cloud backend to help interpret coursework, extract information, suggest plans, and answer questions. This can include background analysis associated with an enabled feature, not just text you type into a chatbot. The model may vary by task. These features are not represented as entirely on-device AI.
Information sent to OpenAI
Relevant inputs may include your name and account email; your request and recent conversation; course names, assignment descriptions, deadlines, syllabus and announcement content; calendar titles, times, notes, and locations; plans, reminders, availability, preferences, and learned work-duration information. Imported content can include information about other people. Do not supply credentials or information you are not authorized to share.
Storage and provider processing
Google/Firebase supports Tardy's backend. Tardy may save structured AI analysis and summaries for reuse, and Text Tardy stores a bounded recent conversation and shared context. OpenAI's API data is not used for training by default unless the customer opts in, but provider retention for security and other service purposes can still apply. No zero-retention or end-to-end-encryption promise is made.
Accuracy and your choice
AI may produce incorrect, incomplete, or outdated information. Check official sources for deadlines, requirements, grades, and submissions. Review proposed changes before approving them. AI is not an emergency service or a substitute for an instructor, adviser, or qualified professional.
Under the intended launch design, enabling AI is optional and separate from Terms acceptance or Text Tardy enrollment. Declining makes AI-dependent features unavailable. Contact tardyadmin@tardyplanner.app about withdrawal or stored information. The intended withdrawal control must stop future AI transmissions, including automatic work and texting; it cannot undo completed processing. Deletion is a separate request. Tested in-app withdrawal instructions are not yet available.
Proposed permission wording
The following wording is a preview of the intended in-app choice, not a request to give permission on this page:
I allow Tardy to send my relevant account, coursework, calendar, planning, and conversation information to OpenAI through Tardy's cloud services for the AI features I enable, as described in the AI Disclosure and Privacy Policy. This can include information that identifies me. I understand that AI may be wrong and provider retention may apply.
The planned choices are "Enable AI features" and "Not now," with no permission preselected. Accepting the Terms alone does not enable AI. Texting also requires its own separate permission.
