Draft status and current limitations
These draft terms describe the intended Text Tardy launch for US adults age 18 or older. They are not yet effective, and this page is not an enrollment form. Affirmative messaging opt-in, independent AI permission and withdrawal, and separate event-reminder choices still require implementation or verification.
The reviewed app currently defaults event reminders on. The proposed launch will start them off until you choose them. Automated handling of natural-language opt-outs and support requests still needs improvement and testing. Use the exact reply STOP or the support email to request that messages stop. No HELP command or automated STOP confirmation is promised here.
1. Joining and what you request
Text Tardy is optional for eligible US adults and is operated by Michael Minh Nguyen and Aaron Nguyen. Use a messaging address you control. Pairing and in-app confirmation link it to your account. Enrollment requests account-related setup messages and supported reminders. Under the intended launch design, AI replies and interpretation of natural-language reminder or calendar requests require separate AI permission. Calendar-event reminders are a separate optional choice.
Delivery uses supported messaging services, such as iMessage, through Linq. SMS/RCS availability depends on service, device, and provider support; no fallback route is guaranteed. Messages can be automated. Frequency varies with your requests, selected reminders, and service limits. Message and data rates may apply. This consent does not authorize promotional campaigns or marketing messages.
2. Information processed for texting
Linq processes messaging addresses, messages, and delivery details. Tardy and Google/Firebase store the connection, shared context, recent conversation, queued requests, and reminder records. OpenAI receives requests and relevant conversation, coursework, calendar, time-zone, reminder, and pending-action context for AI replies. The intended launch requires separate AI permission first; that general permission gate is not yet implemented.
Text Tardy is a cloud-based assistant, not an end-to-end-encrypted assistant. Tardy and its providers must process content. Replies or reminders can reveal personal academic or calendar details on lock screens, shared devices, linked accounts, or backups. Do not text passwords, tokens, sensitive records, or private information about others.
3. Actions, reminders, and limitations
The assistant can propose changes to shared Tardy calendar events and supported one-off reminders. A fresh confirmation is required for supported changes. Text Tardy does not directly edit your Apple or Google calendars. Review every proposed action; an AI-generated explanation is not proof an action completed. Check its confirmation and your saved events.
Interpreting a natural-language request to create, change, or cancel a reminder or calendar event uses AI and requires AI permission in the intended launch design. Delivery of a previously confirmed reminder does not itself use AI. STOP and supported confirmations are handled separately from ordinary AI requests.
Event Text Reminders use the times you select for supported events. Turning off that setting does not cancel one-off reminders you separately requested. AI answers and imported schedules can be incomplete or stale; imported texting context must be refreshed by app activity. Network conditions, provider restrictions, usage limits, outages, and expired context can prevent or delay replies and reminders. Do not rely on Text Tardy for emergencies or guaranteed deadline alerts.
4. Support and related terms
For help, contact tardyadmin@tardyplanner.app. This document supplements the Terms of Service and App License Notice. It does not replace separate AI permission. Contact us promptly if you lose control of a connected number or account, and disconnect it before transferring it to another person.
5. Opting out, resuming, and disconnecting
STOP. Reply STOP to opt out and withdraw permission for Text Tardy messages. Queued replies are invalidated, pending changes are cleared, and one-off reminders are canceled. This does not delete your account, connection, shared context, or cloud events. A message already handed to the provider may still arrive. You may also ask tardyadmin@tardyplanner.app to stop messages. A clear opt-out request does not require a special phrase; automated recognition of broader wording is not yet fully supported, so use STOP or contact support for assistance.
START. An explicit START can re-enable messaging on an eligible connection. Canceled one-off reminders do not return; a previously enabled event-reminder setting may resume. Ordinary messages do not re-enable texting. START does not grant or renew AI permission. Under the intended launch design, features that cannot support your selected permissions separately must remain unavailable with an explanation.
Disconnect. Disconnect Text Tardy in the app's messaging settings to unlink the sender and remove the shared texting snapshot, assistant history, pending requests, queued work, and scheduled reminder state. Saved Tardy cloud events remain. Signing out or uninstalling the app is not a substitute for disconnecting Text Tardy.
6. Retention and messages already delivered
Imported context becomes ineligible for new AI answers after 24 hours; this is not automatic erasure. Conversation and reminder history use record/size limits. Providers and backups have separate retention, and Tardy remains responsible for applicable processor deletion requests. Disconnecting cannot retract messages already delivered to recipients. Clearing context alone does not disable event reminders or delete saved cloud events and receipts.
Proposed primary opt-in
The following wording previews the intended in-app opt-in, not an active enrollment control on this page:
By selecting "Enable Text Tardy," I request automated account-related messages at the address I confirm, including setup messages and supported reminders. AI replies and natural-language reminder or calendar requests also require my separate AI permission; connecting or sending START does not grant it. Tardy, Google/Firebase, and Linq process texting data as described in the Privacy Policy and Text Tardy Terms. Frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Text Tardy is optional and not a condition of purchase. Reply STOP to opt out or disconnect in the app. Signing out does not disconnect texting.
Separate optional event-reminder choice
The intended launch provides this separate, initially off choice:
Send automated reminders for supported calendar events at my selected times. Frequency depends on my events and choices. I can turn off Event Text Reminders in the app without canceling separately requested reminders. STOP opts out of all Text Tardy messages. Reminder delivery itself does not require an AI call.
The current reviewed app defaults event reminders on; the initially off choice and separate choice records still require implementation and verification.
