Privacy at a glance

This is a release-pending review draft, not yet effective. It describes the revised app and backend, which await a coordinated release. The effective date will be assigned with that release. It does not confirm the behavior of an installed or production version. Publishing or opening this page does not record agreement or AI permission.
One Terms/AI agreement; other permissions stay separate
AI is part of the core service: automatic planning, coursework analysis, document extraction, and Ask Tardy. The revised app presents one initially unchecked Terms/AI checkbox, separate from the age and US-residency checkbox. It reads:
I agree to Tardy’s Terms and consent to Tardy sharing my account details, coursework, calendar details, reminders, preferences, and chats with DeepSeek for AI planning and assistance.
The revised agreement records Terms version 2, AI disclosure version 2, the decision and source, and server time. Acceptance of an older version, signing in, or reading a policy does not establish this permission.
After acceptance, automatic planning can send relevant context without a prompt for every AI request. Calendar access, messaging permission, and marketing consent remain separate. This website does not collect any of those permissions.
What leaves your phone
Account details, coursework and syllabus text, deadlines, completion and study-time information, calendar titles, notes and locations, availability, preferences, reminders, chats, and extracted document text may travel through Tardy’s backend to DeepSeek’s direct API. Relevant context can identify you. AI is neither anonymous nor entirely on-device.
Processing may occur in China. Tardy has not established an API-specific no-training or fixed-deletion guarantee. DeepSeek’s general public privacy policy describes training uses, but its Open Platform Terms say that policy does not cover downstream end-user processing by developer applications. We do not claim every API input is used for training.
Firebase and Google Cloud support sign-in, account data, and the backend. Apple, Google, your school, and its identity provider process connections you choose under their own policies. Historical messaging records may remain with Tardy and messaging providers.
School and calendar connections
Canvas school sign-in opens school and identity-provider pages in a temporary, nonpersistent browser. Tardy uses the session on the device to read available profile/feed, course, submission, and completion information. The integration does not read password fields or upload school passwords or session cookies to Tardy’s backend or AI provider. This is not official Canvas OAuth or a school endorsement.
The private Canvas feed URL stays in the current account’s device Keychain and is used directly with Canvas; you can also paste a feed. Imported academic content and completion marks may become AI context. Older enhanced Canvas API credentials can remain encrypted on Tardy’s server until disconnected or deleted.
Apple and Google Calendar permissions are separate. Under your planning settings and calendar permissions, Tardy can create and adjust its study sessions. Relevant calendar content may be shared for AI planning.
Retention and your controls
The revised app has no separate AI-off mode. Sign out on all devices and stop using Tardy to stop new app AI requests, or delete your account. Signing out does not erase prior submissions, provider copies, or requests already in progress. Delete Account is available before accepting the updated Terms.
Account deletion removes the sign-in and triggers account cleanup, with incomplete cleanup retried. Reset keeps your sign-in and usage-limit records. Neither operation promises immediate removal of every provider, delivered-message, or other-device copy.
Current source settings allow 180 days for normalized AI analysis and extraction caches, two days for planning strategies, three days for daily usage counters, and 400 days for spending summaries. Expiry makes records eligible for cleanup; it does not guarantee instant deletion.
Text Tardy and SMS digests are disabled in the revised app code, with production state still to be confirmed. Accepting the Terms does not enable texting. Historical records and separate messaging permission are described in the messaging disclosure.
Tardy does not sell personal data or use it for advertising. Contact us for access, correction, deletion, or other rights available under applicable law. Verify important academic information and AI results against official school records.
